Very sadly, on 5th December 2020 our very good friend and founder member of SME Alliance, Nigel Henderson, lost his long battle with cancer. In the six years we have had the privilege of knowing Nigel he always the epitome of the kind of honest and decent business man this Country relies on to build the economy and promote the reputation of Britain and the British as fair and honourable people with a totally ethical business ethos. Unfortunately, the conduct of a major UK Bank who, in Nigel's case (and many other cases), had and in some cases still have, a totally unethical approach to business, and this meant that the last 20 years of Nigel's life were entirely dedicated to searching for justice against the wrongs done to him, his family and his business. Many of the SME Alliance members know Nigel's case and we remain astounded and devastated any Bank could allow such a great injustice to remain unresolved for even one year, let alone 20. I could go into detail about the Henderson case (which continues) but, fortunately, and even although he is no longer with us, we do have the video of the very powerful speech Nigel gave at the Cambridge International Symposium On Economic Crime in 2016. No one has put the plight of the victims of economic crime more eloquently. On behalf of all our members we send our deepest condolences to Nigel's family. He will be sadly missed by us all. We leave the final words to Nigel. Extract from Nigel Hendersons' speech at Cambridge International Symposium on Economic Crime 2016 From all your friends at SME Alliance. RIP

Norma, you should be exceptionally proud for the dogged determination Nigel showed right up until his final days to try and highlight bank wrongdoing.

I first met Nigel 5 years ago at a SMEA meeting in London. I learned the same bank that destroyed his business and devastated his life and that of his family is the same bank that did a similar sort of thing to me around the same time. We kept in regular touch over the years in our quest for justice against this bank. He inspired me and when my sister was diagnosed with cancer in April last year, he was great support to me. I am so sad that he is no longer with us. I spoke to him a few days before his passing. He told me to continue my quest for justice against this bank which I will do, same as Scott. I pay tribute to Nigel, a true gent and a legend who always had time to chat with me. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family and friends. RIP Nigel.

It was a privilege to have known Nigel and hoped that he would see justice. Even although he had endured this battle for so many years, he was always there to listen to other victims. We have only had the pleasure of meeting Norma once and wish her and the family our deepest sympathy. KBO!!! with our love Hamish and Lorna.

Paul, Sophie, Laura and I will miss Nigel. Over and above his amazing determination and resilience against all that happened to him, he was also such a gentleman. Kind, logical and unbelievably positive despite all.

I didn't know Nigel well, but I did have the pleasure of meeting him at the SME Alliance meetings. He came across as a kind and gentle sole that only ever wanted to have back what had been taken away from him and his family.

I always enjoyed my conversations with Nigel. I did not know him for very long, but during the times that I spoke and corresponded with him, he was always kind, considerate and patient. He had a deep belief in what he was fighting for (justice for him, his family and others) and rightly so. Nigel will not be forgotten.
