We have travelled many miles, literally, in our short history as SME Alliance…... Birmingham, Bristol, London and even Downing Street. We have proven to be effective and very, very noisy !
On the 5th June 2015 SME Alliance will once again return to London to gather for what may prove to be the singular most important conference since we've come together. With a huge thank you to the organisational skills of Jon Welsby, we are delighted to announce that the SME Alliance Summer Seminar will tackle the fraught and emotional subject of : “Fraud and Access to Justice”. Conference Hall Mary Sumner House 24 Tufton Street Westminster London SW1P 3RB 13.30 - 17.00 hrs Tickets: £10.00 The Seminar will offer us all the opportunity to listen to and question some of the leading minds on this subject in the country. The expectation is that this Seminar will be over subscribed, we already have 35 provisional places booked for outside professionals to attend, such is the keen interest in this matter. SME Alliance members will have the right of first refusal, however, after Thursday 30th April we will open up the tickets to non-members. This is a pivotal moment in SME Alliance’s history, make sure you don’t miss it !!!! See you all on the 5th June, and once again thank you Jon Welsby. James Glanville
Please use buttons below for payment - we have chosen not to have this meeting sponsored as it must be completely independent. Any donations over and above the £10.00 gratefully received. Anyone wanting to pay by bank transfer or cheque please e-mail [email protected] for details.

As SME Alliance is not a political organisation, except for the fact we lobby and talk to any party that will listen to us. So while most of the members share their feelings about banks to each other, we rarely talk about who we do or don't support in the upcoming election. However, a couple of days we circulated a letter sent from the Conservative party to members asking for their support. I make the point we would circulate any letter from other parties to SME Alliance as well. I don't know how many of our members replied to give their support or not. With the exception of Nigel Henderson who has written an extremely powerful and heartfelt letter which he has shared with us and which is published below. We have finally published 'Gould's Corner'! Yeh!!! This is a brilliant library of documents Nick Gould has written, collected or collated over the last ten years and which he has now very very kindly shared with SME Alliance members. There was so much valuable information we've built a separate site and linked it to our own site in the members area – although the home page and about page are available to everyone.
The subjects covered in this new library are: Acts & Bills; Contracts & Contract Law; Corporate Governance; Law (Good & Bad); Lectures & Articles; Advice for SMEs. It is fascinating stuff for anyone running an SME and I would suggest reading some of these documents will save business owners time and money – because it makes so much sense and is based on Nick's years of experience as a Corporate Law Partner. I would advice all members to have a browse and I'm sorry it's taken so long to get this on the site. Part of the delay in getting this up was the fact that while cataloguing it, both Paul and I (yes I frequently rope Paul in as well as the daughters), we found ourselves reading all the documents as we went! While anyone can access 'Gould's Corner' https://gouldscorner.wordpress.com/ the actual library of documents is available to members only for obvious reasons – i.e what's the point of being a member if you can get the same information without joining? We're not being mean and as with our main library (which will be updated next week), we just genuinely want to pass on as much good advice and resources to our members as possible. Members will see the password to access the library underneath the link to 'Gould's Corner' in the members area. If any member has forgotten the pass word to the members area, please email me: [email protected]. Many thanks to Nick for giving us access all these very useful documents and we will update the site every time he gives us additional papers. Many thanks also to Laura for building us yet another site! |
