Today we received a letter the Prime Minister's office in reply to our letter of 14th July http://www.smealliance.org/blog/letter-to-rt-hon-theresa-may-mp In our letter we asked that the plight of SMEs who have been or are being abused by some in the financial sector, be added to the list of those she will support. We are very grateful to have received this encouraging and very timely reply. Not least because I am still awaiting a reply from David Cameron from a letter sent in December 2012! Hopefully even those members who have little faith in Government or any political party will see this as a positive step forward because we have been ignored for a very long time by successive Governments which is why the situation between SMEs and the Banks has become so dire. And not helped at all by the regulators who in many cases hinder more than help. I genuinely feel there is a move afoot to support SMEs and I was told by one MP very recently that the conduct of banks towards SMEs is now having an adverse effect on GDP – while that is not a good thing in itself it is good that the Government are becoming more aware of how bad things are. Hopefully we will get a further letter in the near future and once the Prime Minister and her Government have had a chance to consider the situation further. In the meantime the response is much appreciated.
